Neukölln is the loudest Kiez in Berlin and the canal is the one quiet thing running through it. This is the short version, walked in the afternoon when the bar street is asleep and the water is doing the work — the Reuterkiez, the Landwehrkanal, and the market that turns the towpath into a souk twice a week.
Start at Schönleinstraße and drop straight to the Maybachufer. On a Tuesday or Friday the Türkenmarkt is here — fabric, herbs, olives, the vendors calling across the stalls — and it's the best reason to time the walk. Cross at the Hobrechtbrücke and stand on it a moment; the canal slows everything down. Then up into the Reuterkiez proper: Weserstraße with its shutters down, the studios, the corner Späti, and Reuterplatz with its church and its sunshine benches.
From there the streets get louder. Hermannplatz is the hinge — Kreuzberg behind you, deep Neukölln ahead. End at Rathaus Neukölln, the red-brick town hall, one stop on the U7 if your legs are done.
