The market moved, and a slab of Tokyo's morning moved with it. Toyosu took over from Tsukiji in 2018 — the tuna, the trade, the six a.m. choreography — and rebuilt the whole thing on reclaimed bay land behind glass. Three kilometres, best done early and hungry.
The honest thing to say up front: the famous tuna auction is over by six, the free deck is a glass box above it, and the close-up deck needs a lottery ticket booked weeks out. So don't come for the auction. Come for the sushi counters, where the breakfast is the real inheritance from Tsukiji — sit at one, order the omakase, and let the morning happen. The market sits on the water, and after, the walk softens.
Toyosu Gururi Park rings the bay — gururi, all the way around — with the central skyline laid out across it. Follow the waterside path south. If you've energy left, teamLab Planets is a short detour toward Shin-Toyosu; book ahead, and go while it lasts — it's a temporary venue, running to 2027. End at Toyosu station, where both the Yurikamome and the Yurakucho line take you back across the water.
