walking lisbon

30 routes — editor-walked, or clearly flagged until they are.

Walking is the only honest way through Lisbon's hills — Alfama's fado lanes, the miradouros above Graça, and Chiado tipping down to the Tejo.

Lisbon was built to be climbed, not driven — the hills defeat every shortcut and reward the patient. Start in Alfama, where the streets fold back on themselves and fado leaks from doorways; climb to Graça for the miradouro, drift down through Mouraria, then let Cais do Sodré and the river settle the argument. The calçada does the rest.

No leaderboards, no algorithm — just the walks the editor thought were worth your time, with notes on what to actually look at along the way.
